Prerequisites are basic familiarity with network programming concepts and at least one systems programming language. No prior gRPC experience required.
Workshop: Production gRPC
A two-day advanced workshop for teams running or preparing to run gRPC services in production. Topics include TLS and mTLS configuration, deadline propagation and cancellation, load balancing strategies for gRPC's connection model, error handling with status codes and rich error details, observability with OpenTelemetry, and graceful shutdown patterns. Participants work through progressively complex labs using a realistic multi-service application.
Workshop: gRPC Performance Engineering
A focused half-day session on squeezing maximum performance from gRPC services. Covers Protocol Buffer layout optimization for serialization speed, HTTP/2 flow control and window sizing, connection pooling and keepalive configuration, profiling with pprof, and load testing methodology with ghz. Includes benchmark labs where participants measure the impact of each optimization technique directly.
